Arrival at the airport in the evening, personalised welcome with flowers, then transfer to Jimbaran. Overnight at the Balinese-style Hotel PURI BAMBU JIMBARAN 3*, located 5 minutes' walk from the beach. Dinner on your own.

In the morning, visit Denpasar's big market: Pasar Badung, a colourful and tasty market where you'll find all kinds of goods: meat, fish, fruit, clothes... Then you'll take a dokkar to the traditional house of our friends Ati and Pak Ming where you'll be welcomed for a Balinese lunch.

In the afternoon, departure for an excursion to the marine temple of Tanah Lot. Return to your hotel and end of the afternoon at leisure. Overnight at your hotel.

Day 4

Mengwi, Jatiluwih, Bedugul, Munduk

From Jimbaran to Munduk

After breakfast, off to Mengwi! Visit the Taman Ayun temple. Surrounded by a wide moat, the temple is captivating for its calm, the balance of its buildings and the richness of its sculptures. Continue to the north of the island, passing through the superb yet little-known region of Jatiluwih, with its rice terraces stretching as far as the eye can see. Stop at Bedugul, a mountain village on the shores of Lake Bratan. Visit the semi-aquatic temple of Ulun Danu, dedicated to the water goddess Dewi Danu. Then continue on a more mountainous route through coffee, hydrangea and clove plantations.

Arrive in Munduk at the end of the day and check into the PURI LUMBUNG 3* hotel in a cottage on stilts. Dinner on your own. Night at the hotel.

Day 5

Seririt, Bali Barat

Early departure for a walk through the plantations, led by your guide. Return to the hotel for breakfast, before continuing northwards. Stop off at the large market in Seririt and the Buddhist monastery of Banjar. Arrive late morning at Bali Barat National Park, which is still very little visited. Bali's most beautiful underwater world can be found off the coast of Bali Barat.

Afternoon check-in at the WAKA SHOREA 3* hotel, a charming eco-resort. Dinner on your own. Night at the hotel.

Menjangan Island

In the morning, departure for the interior of the island. En route, stop off at the Banjar hot springs for a swim. Lunch by the sea at Lovina Beach. Continue on to the Kintamani and Petang region.

Day 8

Mount Abang, Sebatu, Ubud

In the morning, departure for a mountain bike ride on the slopes of Mount Abang. Picnic lunch. In the afternoon, transfer to Ubud, an artists' village in the centre of the island that has become a pleasant resort. En route, stop at the sacred baths of Sebatu, still used by the Balinese. Check-in at the ANANDA COTTAGES 3* hotel with swimming pool, located in the heart of the rice fields.

In the evening: traditional Balinese dance show at the old Ubud palace, followed by dinner at the beautiful Lotus Café restaurant overlooking the Saraswati temple and its lotus trees. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 9

Bangli, Sidemen

Free morning to discover the pretty resort of Ubud at your own pace. In the afternoon, departure for Sidemen. On the way, visit the beautiful Kehen temple of the Bangli kingdom, set in its green setting. At the end of the day, arrive in Sidemen, located in one of Bali's most authentic regions, facing the Agung volcano.

Check-in for 3 nights at the SUBAK TABOLA hotel, a charming eco-resort with a breathtaking view of the valley and terraced rice fields, and a beautiful swimming pool. Dinner on your own. Night at the hotel.

Day 10

Tenganan, Bebandem, Tirtagganga, Sidemen

In the morning, departure for the animist village of Tenganan, home to the Bali Aga people who have always made Ikat and basketry, and whose houses are veritable art exhibitions. Visit the village, followed by a 2-hour hike through a landscape of earthly paradise dominated by the Agung volcano. Stop off at a "warung", a Balinese stall, to sample a coconut. Arrive at the village of Bebandem, then continue by car to the royal baths of Tirtagganga, surrounded by rice fields. Lunch in a small restaurant. Continue on to the fishing village of Amed where you will meet the Peduli Alam association (which means "taking care of nature" in Indonesian). Return to Sidemen in the late afternoon. Dinner at leisure. Overnight at the hotel.

Peduli Alam's aim is to help villagers become aware of the impact on nature and health of incinerating or dumping waste into nature, rivers and the sea. And to do this by providing simple, easily accessible solutions.

Please note: outside tourist areas, there is no rubbish collection system.

Day 11

Visit the temples and swim along the coast

It's worth getting up early in the morning to admire the mother temple of Besakih in the morning mist! Mount Agung is the holiest of volcanoes. It is home to around thirty temples dedicated to all the gods honoured in Bali. Visit the mother temple, then head down to the coast towards a superb white sand beach. Lunch of grilled fish on the beach and free time to swim in the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. Return to the hotel in the late afternoon. Dinner at leisure. Night at the hotel.

Comfort

PURI LUMBUNG Cottages
It combines the efforts of the people of Mundung and the Balinese Tourism Institute to support the community in protecting the environment and conserving culture in the spirit of responsible tourism. The hotel has its own organic garden and employs mainly people from the Mundung region.
WAKA SHOREA 3* Hotel
The hotel is located on a coral beach facing the island of Menjangan and offers 12 comfortable bungalows with terraces. Swimming pool and restaurant on the beach, afternoon tea with Balinese cakes offered daily. Right in front of the hotel, the beach with its shells and a large pontoon from which you can dive into a real aquarium, so rich is the underwater world! Access to the hotel by boat.... But be careful, you're in a nature park, and all the animal species are protected: you're likely to see deer, monkeys and even field rats near your bungalow!
SUBAK TABOLA Hotel
The hotel has its own organic garden and employs local people from the Sidemen region. To minimise the impact on the environment, there is no air conditioning, television or minibar in the rooms. Guests are invited to reuse their towels and sheets during their stay.

Climate and equipment

The dry season is the ideal time to visit Bali. It runs from May to October, with an average temperature of around 26°C: ideal for enjoying the beaches and discovering the temples and archaeological sites.
Try to avoid the months of July and August to avoid the larger tourist numbers and benefit from cheaper hotel rates.

Health

Be up to date with your vaccinations.
No vaccinations required, but recommended: Hepatitis A
Drink only bottled mineral water.

Formalities

PASSPORT & VISAS
The Indonesian authorities require that the passport expire 6 months after the date of entry into Indonesia.
An entry visa for Indonesia is required for all French nationals since 1 February 2004.
Cost: 25$ for a 30-day visa. The visa is issued at the airport.
