PASSPORT & VISAS
REMINDER: French nationals are required to have a visa to enter India. People arriving without a visa or with a valid visa are turned away by the Indian authorities. The expiry date of the passport must be at least 6 months after the date of expiry of the visa.
More information on the France Diplomatie website.
Since 2015, the Indian authorities have introduced a visa-on-arrival scheme, known as the e-Tourist visa.
This "e-visa" must be applied for online after registering the application (https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/tvoa.html) and paying the application fee. The agreement is materialised by the receipt of a travel authorisation in electronic form which must be presented at the airport of arrival in order to obtain a visa in the passport. It is only valid for applicants for short-term tourist/business/medical visas who hold a French passport valid for at least 6 months on the date of issue of the electronic travel authorisation.
