Day 1
Paris, Quito
Departure from Paris on a scheduled airline. Arrival in Quito in the afternoon. Welcome and transfer to the hotel of your choice. First guided discovery of Quito, a city listed as a World Cultural Heritage Site. Cocktail and welcome dinner. Overnight at your hotel.

Quito
Free day in Quito. We will show you places to visit. Night in hotel.

Quito
Free day in Quito. Night in hotel.
Day 4
Quito, Otavalo
Pick up your car. Drive along the Panamericana Norte to the beautiful, green Andean region of Otavalo: visit its famous indigenous market, the most popular in Latin America. *Possibility of visiting the craft village of Peguche and the spectacular Cuicocha crater lagoon via the leather village of Cotacachi. Dinner and overnight stay in an indigenous community in Otavalo.
Day 5
Otavalo, Cotopaxi
Drive to the Cotopaxi volcano, Ecuador's 2nd highest peak (5900m): tour of its national park by car accompanied by a local guide, entrance fees and guide to be paid on site. *Possibility of climbing to the refuge from 4500 to 4800 metres. Night in a hacienda or hostel.
Day 6
Cotopaxi, Quilotoa
Visit to the magnificent Lake Quilotoa and meeting with indigenous craftsmen. Dinner and overnight at a hostel (all addresses will be given in your itinerary).
Day 7
Quilotoa, Baños
Continuation to the spa town of Baños. Free tour of the town. *Optional thermal bath and overnight in a hotel.
Day 8
Baños, Amazonia
Drive to the Amazon or *optional mountain bike ride to the Pailón del Diablo waterfall. Hike to the large waterfall. Arrival in the Misahualli region, on the banks of the Napo River, by car and/or following the lodge, crossing by pirogue to your accommodation in the middle of the rainforest. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 9
Amazonia
Day excursion into the forest on foot and by pirogue to observe the flora and fauna, medicinal plants, birds and animals with a local indigenous guide. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 10
Amazonia, Rio Bamba
Last "Amazonian" breakfast. *Optional rafting on the Jatun Yacu river. Then on to the town of Riobamba, situated at the foot of one of the highest volcanoes in the world: Chimborazo (6310m). Free tour of the town. Overnight in a hotel or hacienda.
Day 11
Rio Bamba, Train des Andes, Guayaquil
Drive to the village of Alausí to take the famous Andes Train over the Nariz del Diablo (Devil's Nose) precipice. Departure for the coastal region, the economic capital and largest city in Ecuador: Guayaquil. Free tour of the city or *guided tour as an option. Drop-off of the car at Guayaquil airport. Flight to Paris on a scheduled airline.
Day 12
Paris
Arrival in Paris.

The climate is tropical, with two main seasons that vary according to altitude and area. The rainy season lasts from December to May in the Sierra and from January to April on the coast, with rain falling every day. The dry season runs from June to November in the Sierra and from May to December on the coast, with less humidity and more pleasant temperatures. In the centre of the country, temperatures are moderate all year round, around 25°C. The weather is generally fairly unpredictable, so there's no single best time to visit the country: the dry season is best for trekking at altitude, and it's more pleasant to be in the Amazon between September and January.
Bring good walking shoes and comfortable clothing.

PASSPORT & VISAS
For your trip to Ecuador, you will need a passport that is valid for six months after the return date of your journey.
No VISAS are required for stays of less than 90 days.
