Nature

Here is a programme of family hike in the Drôme, ideal for a gentle reconnection with nature. On the charming territory of the Haut-Diois, between Vercors and Provence, during 6 days, at the quiet rhythm of the donkeys, we walk along fragrant paths, from villages to lost hamlets. Our guide, a lover of the region, will awaken all our senses so that the discovery is at the same time playful, naturalist and off the beaten track. Each day we stop in a dream location, ideal for swimming or for exciting explorations and of course for beautiful evenings under the stars. The trek alternates between nights in a local's gîte and dreamy bivouacs in the mountains, to subtly mix comfort and life in the open air!

Luc-en-Diois (550 m) - Miscon (800 m)

Welcome at 10am at Le Claps, 2 kms from Luc-en-Diois. After the introductions, it's time to get organised and discover how to brush, clean and pack a donkey and load it with balanced saddlebags. Then it's the big departure in the direction of the Pic de Luc in the shade of the pine forest. In the afternoon, by a very gentle climb, we follow the Rif stream before camping in the middle of nature in an idyllic landscape!

3 hours walking. M: 450 m. D: 200 m. (9 km)

Night in bivouac

Day 2

Miscon - Lesches-en-Diois (1000 m)

Miscon - Lesches-en-Diois (1000 m)

This morning, we pack up the tents and fly to the Puy mountain, the take-off area for paragliders in the area! Secret paths, cow pasture plateaus, small path in the woods, the view is splendid. Don't worry if your legs are a bit tired because tonight we sleep in a real bed in a charming gîte d'étape located on the plateau of lavender and lime trees in Lesches-en-Diois.

3 hours walking. M: 400 m. D: 200 m. (8 km)

Overnight in a comfortable gîte d'étape.

Day 3

Lesches-en-Diois - Le Pilhon (1050 m)

Lesches-en-Diois - Le Pilhon (1050 m)

You pass the rue des alambics, a reminder of the cultivation of lavender, to embark on a superb crossing with a mountain atmosphere in the direction of Val Maravel. When you arrive at Pilhon, you can extend the hike by climbing Mont Chauvet, having taken care to let the donkeys rest near your gîte. You are in a magical and calm place. Here, no telephone network, but a connection to nature that will not leave you indifferent! At Le Pilhon, we hope to meet the 6 inhabitants who live here all year round, in the heart of the mountains, in this hamlet where the road ends, at the limit of the Hautes-Alpes.

3 hours walking. M : 250 m. D : 150 m. (7 km) + optional ascent of Mont Chauvet (2/3h more)

Night in bivouac.

Day 4

Le Pilhon - Le Pré (800 m)

Le Pilhon - Le Pré (800 m)

We discover mountains that are not very frequented but are nonetheless magnificent! In the evening, the bivouac is like a dream in the alpine meadows at the end of the world, in a preserved site. You enjoy the incredible sky of the area. The nearby village of Valdrôme has plans to build a star observatory, as the sky is so pure.

3 hours walking. M : 250 m. D : 150 m. (7 km) + optional ascent of Mont Chauvet (2 to 3 hours extra)

Night in bivouac.

Day 5

Le Pré - Charens (850 m.)

Le Pré - Charens (850 m.)

A day with another different hike, between river and small ridges to change valley again and reach Charens. From there, the panorama opens up to the peaks of the Vercors and the Dévoluy. For this last night, we sleep in the small family gîte of La ferme des Oches. Retired sheep farmers, Chantal and Robert welcome you in the middle of nature and calm, in country-style rooms with shared sanitary facilities. They cook for us vegetables from the garden, their meat and goat cheese from the neighbour! A small shower, a real bed, a nice meeting with the hosts of the gîte allow you to recharge your batteries before the last day of the trip.

4 hrs 30 mins walk. M: 500 m. D: 450 m. (11 km)

Night in a farmhouse.

Day 6

Charens - Luc-en-Diois (500 m.)

Charens - Luc-en-Diois (500 m.)

Following the mine path, your mountain guide will continue to tell you about the history and stories of the area. Head towards Luc-en-Diois, downhill, to reach the Claps, where a swim is welcome! An emotional moment to say goodbye to our new big-eared companions, the donkeys Tonton, Flora, Patapon and Déesse...
