Day 1

On arrival you will be met by our car rental partner who will transfer you to their premises located 5 minutes from the airport.

You can complete your formalities there, away from the long queues and in complete peace of mind.

You'll then be ready to hit the road for your guest house, located 45 minutes from the airport in the north of the island.

Day 2

Precheur

After a breakfast of fresh local produce, you'll set off for Le Prêcheur.

You'll start with a walk through the forest and up the river to the Couleuvre waterfall.

Hiking in the rainforest to discover the local flora and fauna.
You'll hike up to the edge of the crystal-clear river with a few crossings before arriving at your final destination, the famous waterfall. A 3h30 return walk.
Distance: 4 km. Ascent: 240 m. Difference in altitude: 240 m. Level 2 walk not requiring the presence of a guide.

Next, head for the Céron dwelling. You'll discover its majestic Zamana and enjoy this magical place before finding a black sand beach to end the day.

Day 3

The serious stuff begins! It's time for the climb.

In the shadow of this mythical mountain, the highest point on the island, you can admire sumptuous and strange landscapes, the flamboyant colours of the "pineapple mountain" and other endemic plants. Leave early to escape the clouds that roll in mid-morning.

A level 3 hike with some difficulties.

We recommend that you are accompanied by a mountain leader, who we can provide on request.

In the afternoon, head for Sainte-Pierre: a town of art and history with its ruins, market, cathedral and local craftsmen.

Day 4

You'll discover an exceptional path that follows the coastline and guides you through the Caravelle nature reserve, listed for its geological and historical treasures.
Above the cliffs you will discover magnificent views and surprising vegetation.

This is not a particularly difficult walk, but it is in a dry area that is very exposed to the sun.

We recommend that you hire a mountain leader to guide you. We can provide one on request.

You'll stop for a picnic at the Baie aux Trésors and enjoy this magnificent lagoon, which is only accessible on foot.

During this day, you will immerse yourself in the tropical rainforest with its tree ferns, endemic species and majestic trees. You'll enjoy a swim in a magnificent little natural pool surrounded by lush vegetation.

Day 6

Through the canyons

Through the canyons

This last day in the North will be devoted to an original activity: canyoning. To introduce you to the sport, Max will take you to Saut du Gendarme, along an easy route where you will descend a total of 7 waterfalls in the middle of the lush forest.

This route begins with an easy approach walk. A few minutes that will plunge you into the heart of the rainforest. From the first abseil, you'll have access to the river in which the rest of the route takes place. In all, you'll descend 7 waterfalls before arriving at the Saut du Gendarme waterfall and its crystal-clear basin.

In the afternoon, you will discover the Depaz distillery and its magnificent castle.

After a morning swim in the sea near your accommodation, you'll set off to explore the route des Anses. You'll visit many of the island's heritage sites, which are well worth a visit.

To round off your stay, you can visit the magnificent Balata botanical garden and its church, a perfect replica of the Montmartre Basilica in Paris.

On the way back, you'll make a stopover in Fort-de-France and discover its bay and market. Then it's time to head back to the airport with your head full of souvenirs.

Climate and equipment

The weather in Martinique is fine all year round with temperatures around 25°C. The wet season, when hurricanes are more frequent, is from September to November. The high season starts in December.

Health

Be physically fit for hiking and have a good mosquito repellent!
No particular problems, but beware of mosquitoes for those who are sensitive.
