Climate and equipment

Winter extends from November to late April/early May in the north of the country. The advantage is that it is never too hot in Hanoi and its region (Red River Delta): 15 to 20°C during the day, it can even be a little cool (sometimes less than 10°C at night). The disadvantage is that the weather is often grey, foggy and even rainy. It can drizzle for days on end, making Along Bay quite gloomy. However, from February to March, in the late evening, it can be quite clear in Hanoi and in the lowland areas, and on the coast. A form of spring is established from mid-March to early May.
From May onwards, the heavy heat of the summer begins and lasts until October. Although it can rain, this is the driest time of the year and the one with the highest temperatures. The average temperature is 30 to 40°C, which is muggy and sometimes difficult to bear. At the end of the season, from September to November, the North can experience some fairly violent typhoons from the former China Sea.
Avoid the months of July and August, when there is heavy rainfall, sometimes violent.
